Overview

Virtual Lab for Computational Chemistry(VLCC) was proposed by Prof. Xuebin Chi (Computer Network Information Center, CAS), Prof. Keli Han (Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS), Prof. Zhigang Shuai (Institute of Chemistry, CAS) and Prof. Zhonghua Lu (Computer Network Information Center, CAS) in April, 2004. The lab based on CNIC, CAS was founded on August 15, 2004. Currently, it has approximately fourty members including domestic and international computational chemistists. Prof. Keli Han serves as the director and Prof. Zhigang Shuai, Prof. Wenjian Liu (Peking University), Prof. Jinlong Yang (University of Science and Technology of China) serve as the vice director. Dr. Zhong Jin (Supercomputing Center, CNIC, CAS) is in charge of running the lab. VLCC is an open research and development base, and people who has interest in is welcome to join in.

Our main purpose is to provide a uniform work interface using network technology for those scientists engaged in computational chemistry to access the high-speed computational network platform through personal computers. Now, our own 3D molecule Visualizer and Builder - GridMol is created and a HPC computational system - SCCHEM is developing at a deep level through integrating related software and developing new HPC modules.
